Reading on Location

The majority of meters are still being read by Brunata service employees visiting the individual consumers. Brunata’s employee carries an electronic hand terminal which is used to read all types of meter. The advantages for the residents are accurate readings as well as a printed copy of the reading detailing the total consumption for the individual types of meter.

When reading our electronic allocation meter, a reader unit is connected to the meter and the data is transferred directly to the hand terminal. This way keying errors are avoided. Another advantage of the direct data transfer to the hand terminal is that the reading is instantly checked. The hand terminal itself checks the result and notifies the service employee, if an irregular reading result is found. It is then up to the service employee to decide whether the reading should be accepted or whether to add a comment. The comments will subsequently be reviewed by the office personnel before the accounts are prepared.

Reading of evaporative meters
The evaporative meter has two ampoules each in a different colour. The left ampoule shows last year’s consumption while the consumption of the current year is shown in right ampoule. Thus, the level of fluid is what is read. The service employee reads two numbers on the scale:

• the reading itself (right side)
• a control figure (left side)

Both figures are entered on the hand terminal, which immediately checks the entry.
