In Denmark, essentially all types of meter must be covered by a verification system. The purpose of a verification system is to ensure for the consumers that the meters used for allocation accounting function correctly.

One verification system for each type of meter
Different legal requirements apply according to type of meter. In other words, the legal requirements for water, heat, and energy meters differ. In Denmark, the rules are determined by The Danish Accreditation and Metrology Fund (DANAK).

Who is responsible for the verification system?
The supplier of the resource is always responsible for establishing and maintaining the verification system. In a building with heat cost allocation meters, the supplier of the resource is the owner of the building, as he is considered to be the supplier in respect to the residents. It makes no difference whether the building is supplied with district heating or has a local firing system. However, it is possible for the supplier of the resource to entrust the establishment and running of the control system to a subcontractor, e.g. a metering company such as Brunata.

Prerequisites for the verification system
In order for Brunata to be able to handle the verification system of the property is that we also carry out the reading of the meters in the building. This is necessary, as the establishment and running of a verification system requires us to have updated knowledge about the meters and distribution system of the building.

Exceptions from the rules
Hot water distribution meters (calorimeters) are not covered by the regulations regarding compulsory verification systems.
